Instead of battling the strong headwinds in Johnstone Strait, we decided to spend the afternoon relaxing while waiting for the better conditions in tomorrow’s forecast. The last anchorage before entering the strait is Forward Harbour, and it’s well known as a protected spot to wait for weather.
We pulled in and found the good protection from wind and waves. What we didn’t expect to find was the beautiful scenery. The anchorage is dominated by a snow-capped mountain in the distance – we’re surely the first to ever spot it, so we christened it Mt Madrone.
Angie found a pebble beach for treasure hunting.
We also found a pair of commercial prawn boats in the bay. When the commercial boats are also waiting for better weather, that’s when we know we made the right decision to wait.
