BayOfPlentyAnchorage

Bay of Plenty anchorage

We saw a place on the chart that is actually called Bay of Plenty – with a name like that, how could we stay away?

PyneRiverDinghyExploration

The Pyne River is passable by dinghy for more than a mile at high tide, ending in a set of beautiful rapids

Ten miles or so up Laredo Inlet, the bay offered secure anchorage in reasonable depths, a fantastic creek for exploring by dinghy at high water, and scenic views of the hills and mountains nearby.

DinghyExplorer

The intrepid explorer braves the rapids….

And the name, that obviously comes from what’s available – we had 5 keeper crabs in the pot within an hour and a half of dropping it, and the quiet of the evening was disturbed by the sound of leaping salmon feeding on their way up the creek.
