Jedediah Island is yet another provincial marine park in the Strait of Georgia. The island was home to a few hardy Canadian settlers starting in the late 1800s, and it was purchased as a park in 1990. The funds for the purchase came from the estate of Dan Culver, the first Canadian to summit both Mt Everest and K2 (unfortunately, he died on the descent from K2’s summit).
On the east side of the Strait of Georgia, Jedediah Island is largely in the rain shadow of the mountains of Vancouver Island. The (relative) lack of rain means that the forest undergrowth is sparse, which means great hiking through the woods.
