Now that we’re safely home, we can look back a bit on our trip. It was an incredible adventure, and it’s hard to believe that we were lucky enough to do it.
Here are a few details of the trip:
- Total distance travelled: 3506 nautical miles, or about 3900 statute miles, or more than 6000 km
- Total nights on the boat: 140
- Nights spent at anchor: 128, or 91%
- Top speed: 11.7 knots as we were squirted out North Inian Pass with a 5 knot tail current
- Longest travel day (not including trip up or down Washington coast): 78.5 nm from Nanaimo to Squirrel Cove- to make up for being pinned down in Nanaimo for 4 days because of weather
- Shortest travel day: 4.7 nm from Betwixti Between anchorage to Windfall Harbor after viewing grizzly bears at Pack Creek
- Number of “hat overboard” rescues: 3
- Number of days we swam from the boat: 1
- Number of times Angie made Mike sleep in the dinghy: 0
