Sailing under the bridge, likely the last time for a while

We took advantage of the nice weather to move Madrone about 25 miles down the coast to Half Moon Bay.  It’s a really nice anchorage with fantastic protection from the weather and waves, and it has the added benefit for us of eliminating the need to time the strong currents under the Golden Gate when we leave for Hawaii.

Anchorage at Pillar Point in Half Moon Bay

For the last week or so, we’ve been waiting for the right weather for our departure.  There’s been a very large storm in the North Pacific, and this has pushed a low-wind area further south than normal and directly into the path we want to take.  So, we haven’t wanted to leave just to rock around in the waves without any wind.

It looks like that storm is now dissipating, and the wind is forecasted to rebuild over the next couple of days.  So, we’re planning to head out for Hawaii today.  Hope you follow along on our trip!
