Plenty of wind as we left Half Moon Bay. We are screaming along (for a big heavy sailboat), and Madrone loves the conditions.

The crew are still getting their sea legs and are adjusting to the watch schedule.

We’re currently about 170 miles straight west of Point Concepcion, CA, and are heading more or less straight south to avoid a light wind area to the west. The wind is predicted to fill in there in the next couple of days, and as soon as it does we’ll be able to turn a bit more west and head straight for Hawaii.

Day one: 170nm
