The beautiful Hamakua coast
While Mike is back to work at his day job, Madrone’s crew still tries to find time to check out the local attractions. With the fridge and diesel tanks restocked and a few small repairs completed, we took advantage of an extra day with a rental car to check out some of the sights of Hilo.
We hiked along the Hamakua coast adjacent to a set of botanical gardens. The Onomea Trail brought us to a variety of picturesque tropical settings. This one required taking off our shoes and wading across an ankle deep stream, so that eliminated 99% of the other people!
