The location of Waikiki Yacht Club is ideal for visiting Honolulu and Waikiki Beach. We did some exploring on foot, and we also rented bikes from Biki, a pick-up/drop off bike service with locations all throughout Honolulu.
While Mike was hard at work, Angie spent her time walking the beachfront path into Waikiki- watching thousands of tourists on the beach, in the water, learning to surf, shopping, eating, tanning. Waikiki is a very busy place.
One highlight of our time in Honolulu was meeting the crew of S/Y Ran. Malin & Johan are from Malmo, Sweden, and have sailed their 40′ aluminum sloop from Sweden, across the Atlantic, through the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal, and then 4,200nm to Hawaii. From here they are sailing to Alaska and down the west coast to Mexico. The crew of Ran have a YouTube channel that we have been following since just after they departed from Sweden in 2016. It was fantastic to meet them in the flesh and find out that they are just as friendly as they seem in their videos. We ended up drinking wine and talking until 1am…
