Madrone made landfall just after 5pm local time in Sausalito! After a night rough enough to make it difficult to sleep, the winds and seas backed off to allow a gentle sail into the SF Bay entrance channel. Once there, the wind backed off to almost nothing, and we motored towards the Golden Gate and then under the bridge.
In typical fashion, about 50 yards inside the bridge the wind went from 0 to 25+ knots – welcome back to the wild and wooly sailing conditions of SF Bay.
Angie’s parents and cousin came greet us as we arrived, and we had a great view of them (and them of us, hopefully) as we made our way past Fort Baker.
We rounded the corner, headed back to Clipper Yacht Harbor, and after 2644 nm and 19 days 1 hour, we were back.
Stay tuned for another update and summary of the trip. But for now, it’s getting adjusted to being on land and catching up on some sleep.
