Madrone at home in her 70′ slip at Glorietta Bay Marina- feeling a bit like a superyacht!

When we first arrived in San Diego, nearly all of the marinas and anchorages were full of boats.  Each year for the past 25 or so, the Baja Haha rally for cruising sailboats departs from San Diego around the end of October.  We planned to arrive in San Diego the day that they left, but we ended up making the passage from Catalina Island a day early to take advantage of the last of some favorable winds.  So, most spots to park a boat where already full when we arrived.

Code Blue hoisted up the mast to dry out after our sail from Catalina Island

As a last resort, we gave a call to Glorietta Bay Marina in Coronado, and one of their long-term tenants had just taken their large fishing boat to Mexico for a few months.   Madrone was welcome to take their slip, and we should come on in!

Phillip, the Glorietta Bay Marina Harbormaster- such a nice guy

As we pulled in, we were met at the dock by Philip the harbormaster.  He presented us with keys to the facilities before we were even tied up, and just told us to swing by the office anytime to handle our registration.  A super nice, super helpful person with a warm welcome made the beautiful docks and fantastic facilities at the marina even better.  Highly recommended!
