If you’re a frequent visitor here, you’ve probably already found that the “Where Madrone’s Been” link at the top of the page takes you to a nifty Google Maps view of everywhere Madrone has been for the past few years.  If you’re an even more astute visitor, you may have noticed that the map hasn’t been working quite right for the past several months.

A few months ago, our friends at Google decided to change the way they handle the usage of Maps.  Previously, anyone could embed the contents of Google Maps in their own site free-of-charge.  Now, Google has decided to start to charge sites for the use of Maps data if they have a ton of visitors.  The data is still free for anyone to use by going to maps.google.com, and it’s still effectively free for a small site like ours.

But it did take a little bit of behind-the-scenes setup to get the the map working again.  And that work required a good internet connection, which is not always easily available here in Mexico.

The good news is that the map should be up-to-date and fully functional now, so take a look and feel free to email us if anything doesn’t seem right.  To get there, just click the Where Madrone’s Been link at the top of the page, or click here.
