The wind continues to be light, and what wind there is comes from the southwest. Since we want to head south, this means more upwind sailing.
Sailing upwind in moderate or strong wind means that the boat is on its ear, moving around down below is difficult, and there is a lot of force on the sails and rigging. But in this light breeze, the motion is very pleasant. There’s just enough breeze to get the boat moving and to keep the sails from slatting in the swell, but not so much to make it uncomfortable.
We’re not moving quickly, but we’re moving in the right direction and we’re enjoying our solitude on the ocean.
