In the middle of a passage, it’s hard to know when we get to a milestone in time or distance – halfway, or a quarter of the way, or two thirds of the way, for example. We know how fast we’ve gone and how many miles we’ve covered, but we don’t know what the future holds. Our speed and course is set by whatever the wind will be in the future, and that future is uncertain outside of four or five days.
But, it’s probably safe to say that we’re more than halfway now. We’ve covered about 1200 nautical miles so far, and if we could cover the rest of the distance in a straight line we’d have just under 900nm to go.
More light wind today means only moderate progress, but very comfortable conditions. We’ll take it!
