The menu is simple – there are 4 cuts of steak, a couple of salads for the side, and a large wine list featuring exclusively Chilean wines. The waiter brings a tray of meat to your table, slices off as much or as little as you’d like, and then takes it away for weighing.
The master griller then takes the steaks for the table, squeezes them in a mesh basket, and lays them over the wood-burning kettle. Once the steaks are cooked (perfectly, of course), they’re returned to the table and then plated along with a potato and a basket of bread that is also grilled over the wood fire.
Perfectly simple and absolutely delicious. We first visited Cotelé with our Swiss friends Daniel and Rita aboard Maramalda (an absolutely immaculate and beautiful Hallberg-Rassy 43) – it was so good that we returned a couple of nights later. The second visit was even better than the first!
Highly recommended.
