There’s only one town along the main cruising route through Patagonia, and Puerto Eden is it. Our guidebook claims the population is 176 people, but our eyes suggest that’s an overstatement.
Reportedly the rainiest settlement on the planet, the town consists of some houses built around a bay. There is no access to town by road, and as far as we can tell there are not even any roads in the town – the houses are connected by a boardwalk that runs from one end of the bay to the other.
We checked in with the Armada and passed the temperature check and health questions from the Ministry of Health. The Armada officer called his friend, Esteban, who took our diesel jugs to refill them for us, towed us (in our dinghy) to his parents grocery store, and begged a gallon of gas (free of charge) from his dad’s shed to top off our dinghy tank.
A small town, but a perfect stop.
