The open ocean is generally a lonely place. Except for a fishing fleet headed to sea just off the Falklands, we haven’t really seen any other signs of humans.
That has changed as we’ve approached the latitude of San Paulo and Rio de Janiero. Major shipping ports, the waters around them seem to be full of freighters. By full, of course, we mean 6-8 boats per day – after a couple of weeks at sea our calibration of “full” is off by a bit.
All’s well onboard.
