Today, Madrone passed a major milestone on our passage north. At about 0130 local time, under a pitch black night sky, we sailed past Cabo San Roque, the easternmost point of Brazil. That means that we’ve now completed the 1000 mile journey up Brazil’s coastline to the northeast, which was one part (among many…) of this passage that made us nervous.

With San Roque behind us, we swung the bow to the north and then finally towards the northwest. For the next several days at least, the wind should be at our backs and a favorable current should be pushing us forward. Onward!

All’s well onboard.
