After sailing almost six thousand miles to get to the islands of the Caribbean, it seems a little strange to only stay for a week or two. But hurricane season is looming, and we’d rather be a little bit early than a little bit late in leaving for safer latitudes. And, the Caribbean isn’t going anywhere – we hope to be back before too long.

So, Madrone is once again fully loaded with food, fuel and water, and the crew is ready for the sail to the northwest. We’re bound for the US mainland, but this time we’ll be on the east coast. Madrone may not know what to do with the sun rising out of the ocean instead of setting into it….

If all goes well, the trip should take between 10 and 14 days. We’ll post our typical daily updates, and we hope you follow our progress. And feel free to send us a message while we’re sailing – it’s always nice to get new email at sea.
