The weather here in the northwest Bahamas has been fairly consistent – northeast winds between 15 and 20 knots. Since any north component to the wind blows against the northbound Gulf Stream, causing steep and uncomfortable waves, we’ve been sitting tight in our comfortable spot in the Berry Islands, tucked behind the protection of Rat Cay
There was a short lull in the wind yesterday, and we considered making a dash for Florida. But we got in contact with a friend of a friend – based on the benefit of his 46 (!) Gulf Stream crossings, he recommended that we wait. So that’s what we’re doing. It looks like we may have a window to head across, and even possibly to head north, early next week.
So until then, we’ll be safely holed up in our safe anchorage behind Rat Cay. Since there’s not much going on, we probably won’t have another post until we get moving again. But feel free to drop us an email in the meantime.
All’s well onboard.
