Camden is a key attraction to sailors on the Maine coast. Home to the well-known (to sailors, anyway) Lyman-Morse boatyard, the town is built around the small inner harbor. Schooners waft in and out between the moored boats, and pleasure boats of all kinds swing on their moorings.
With a year-round population of ~5000 people, Camden has a small thriving downtown ringed with a beautiful collection of older cottages and wood frame houses. It’s an attraction for tourists, and one benefit is that there are a number of good restaurants that likely wouldn’t survive just on the local business.
We took advantage of being in a town to fill the cupboards with food, the tanks with water, and our bellies with restaurant food. And we hope to be back.
