The coast of Maine is undeniably beautiful. The many islands dotting the shore, the granite boulders and ledges at the edge of the sea, and the hillsides dark with trees all combine to create the coastal Maine ambiance.
And that’s before considering the man-made attractions – the small lobster boat with just one or two folks working the local pots, and the classic and graceful New England cottages dotting the shoreline. It’s scenic, sometimes ridiculously so.
But the essence of Maine cruising, at least to us, is the opportunity to anchor in a small nook between a few islands and then take the dinghy ashore for some hiking, knowing that you have the entire island to yourself.
We like it here.
