The town of Smogen is one of the most popular tourist spots on the Swedish west coast. And after visiting, it’s easy to understand why.

Motoring through the narrow Sote Canal on the way to Smogen. The Sote Canal was completed in 1935 to link Hunnebostrand and Kungshamn and provide fishermen a safe inside passage protected from the ocean swells, wind and rocky shores. Today over 50,000 recreational boaters use the canal every year

Smogen’s “main street” is a boardwalk with small shops and restaurants on one side, and moored pleasure boats on the other. Colorful wooden boathouses line the rocky shores and holiday-makers stroll down the boardwalk, taking in the surroundings.
