The town of Smogen is one of the most popular tourist spots on the Swedish west coast. And after visiting, it’s easy to understand why.

Smogen’s “main street” is a boardwalk with small shops and restaurants on one side, and moored pleasure boats on the other. Colorful wooden boathouses line the rocky shores and holiday-makers stroll down the boardwalk, taking in the surroundings.

For a break from the throngs of Swedes and Norwegians enjoying the summer weather, the fishing village of Kungshamn has a decidedly more lived-in, less vacation-y feel. And the numerous channels winding through the rocky islands were perfect for exploring by dinghy.
