Oso is now less than 150nm from Barbados, but it would take better mariners than us to tell just by looking. The scenery is the same as it’s been for the past several days – a pale blue disk of sky ringed with cotton candy trade wind clouds hovers over a darker blue disk of ocean. There’s no sign of any change in either the waves or the wind, and the only animal company we have is the ever present bullets of flying fish.
We’re on the final approach now, and we’re excited for the upcoming landfall in a new place, and also to get a break from the nonstop rolling and surging of the boat. But the last day of a passage is also a little bittersweet, as it means a change to the easy rhythm of life that develops while making a crossing.
All’s well aboard.
