It’s been a few days since Oso’s landfall in Barbados, and the crew is still delighted to have arrived. The days have been full of cleaning up after the passage, and converting the boat from a passage-making machine back to a comfortable living space. All the extra lines from passage are rinsed, dried and stowed, the inevitable splashes down below are cleaned up, and a few miscellaneous maintenance tasks noted on the passage are completed.

After our arrival we visited the harbor office to check into Barbados and clear in with Customs, Immigration and Health Control
Once we were officially cleared in, we enjoyed a celebration beer and a bite to eat at the restaurant overlooking the harbor

And of course there’s been plenty of time for relaxation – swimming in the crystal clear 82F/28C water, watching the boats come and go from the anchorage, and hanging out under a tree at the nearby beach bar all take a lot of time!

Angie’s favorites! She’s already spotted 2 swimming around in the anchorage

The only drawback so far? It’s hot! Or at least after 2+ years in Northern Europe it feels hot – we’re really out of practice at warmth. Even though the daytime temperatures are only 85F/30C, it feels much hotter, especially in the sun.

But practice makes perfect, and we’ll keep working on adjusting…
