Over the years, Oso and Madrone have taken us many great places on the planet. And one of the best places we’ve found to travel by sail is coastal Maine.

Yum!

The scenery is beautiful, the coastal towns and villages are interesting and welcoming, there’s plenty of remote islands to visit, and the boating heritage and history is unmatched, at least in the US. We’re from the wrong coast, but if we were to live on the East Coast of the US, Maine would likely be the place for us.

Its not perfect (yes, we’re talking about the omnipresent lobster floats that mark Maine’s estimated 3 million lobster traps), but Maine holds a special place for us.
