There’s no place in the world quite like New York City. With a good anchorage in Port Washington to leave Oso, a short commuter train ride drops the crew at iconic Grand Central Station.

Being in Manhattan is very near the polar opposite of typical life aboard a sailboat. Instead of usually being by ourselves, we’re pressed along the sidewalk by the hordes of other people. Instead of our slightly (or, if we’re honest, sometimes very) scruffy clothes, we’re surrounded by people who’ve obviously invested more thought into dressing for the day than we spend in an entire year.

It’s great to be tourists for a day. We join plenty of other people staring wide-eyed at the towering buildings, we devour steaming bowls of ramen at a tiny Japanese restaurant, we ride the subway, and we stroll through Central Park.
