Mike has one more week of work, so we need to find anchorages that have decent mobile phone service so that he can stay connected.  When that requirement is combined with the need to find shelter from the prevailing weather, it turns out that our choices are sometimes limited.

Today’s choice worked out great – we sailed north from Friday Harbor in the late afternoon and ended up at Matia Island.  The sailing was mixed – we found everything from glassy calm to light wind from aft to 20 knots on the beam – but Matia is one of our favorites in the San Juans.  The entire island is a park, and the fact that there are only a couple of small, narrow anchorages means that there usually aren’t a lot of people around.

Tomorrow’s plan is to head across the border into Canada as we make our way to Vancouver at some point next week.
