The Strait of Georgia has been doing its thing for the past couple of days. We’ve had steady 20-30 knot winds from the northwest, which is of course the direction we need to go.
So, we’ve been sitting at anchor in Nanaimo while we wait for the wind to calm down a bit. That’s not the worst thing in the world, as we have a lot of boat chores to catch up on.
After a nice breakfast ashore, Mike changed the oil in the diesel while Angie plowed through some of the laundry and reloaded provisions at the grocery store.
A quick break for lunch, and then time to wax some of the higher traffic areas on the cabin house.
Finally, time for a real break – a nice hike through the woods at Newcastle Island before taking advantage of the hot showers ashore.
We went into town for dinner and found a pretty good Mexican restaurant for dinner. It might be our last decent plate of enchiladas for awhile.
Meanwhile, the wind has really started to blow. The bigger gusts are clocking in at 25+ here in the protected anchorage, so it is sure to really be cranking out in the strait.
This weather pattern is forecasted to stick around for another day or so and then break at the beginning of next week. So, hopefully we’ll be on our way in a day or so.
