IMG_2837Two years ago when Mike & Angie went on their first cruise around Vancouver Island, Angie’s dad gave her his old saltwater rod, a classic Garcia Mitchell 302 spinning reel and his saltwater tackle box complete with lures, hooks, sinkers, etc. After trying out the various lures in his tackle box, the fish’s absolute favorite is the bucktail.  She uses her bucktails and other jigs to catch rockfish, lingcod and flatfish, like sole.

The second means we have a problem…

While anchored at Santa Anna Inlet we went on an afternoon dinghy fishing expedition.  Before catching anything that resembled something we would want to eat, Angie hooked three sea cucumbers while jigging.  She quickly sent each cucumber back to the deep.  Fortunately, after moving to a new fishing location and changing the lure to a trusty bucktail, we caught a rockfish and were able to enjoy some delicious fish tacos for dinner.Rockfish
