Cleaned, prepped & ready for sealant!

We are trying take advantage of  being tied up at a dock to get some projects checked off our to do list.  Some of these projects are boat-specific projects, but others are like normal homeowner projects.

Sealant applied and ready for tooling.

The sealant around our galley sink was beginning to leak in a couple of spots.  Angie removed all of the previous sealant, cleaned and prepped the sink and caulked the sink to counter joint.

One of the many, many steps of splicing double braid rope

Our dinghy bridle & painter were ready to be replaced after several seasons of cruising.  A painter is a rope that is attached to the bow of the dinghy.   We use it to tie the dinghy up to a dock or to Madrone, and on occasion we use it to tow the dinghy behind the big boat.

Nice, new dinghy bridle

Mike spent several hours teaching himself how to splice double braid rope, and made a nice, new dinghy bridle and painter.

Madrone’s outdoor stainless steel parts (i.e. lifeline stanchions, pulpit, pushpit, solar arch, etc) spend all of their time in the warm, salty air.  This leads to some surface rust- which is unattractive, and could be detrimental long-term if not addressed.  Mike was hard at work for an afternoon cleaning and polishing all of the stainless bits.  Boy do they look nice & shiny!
