The friendly folks at KKMI offered to let us stay at their service dock through the weekend so that we could wrap up some projects. So, we took advantage of being attached to shore power for hours and hours of scraping old varnish off the cockpit coamings and seats. Hard work, but the result is a much less slippery surface for moving around the cockpit.
We filled the tanks with fresh water, filled the fridge with food, and washed the boat several times to try to get rid of the accumulated sanding dust and boatyard grime.
After a celebration dinner at our favorite Sausalito restaurant, we finally left the dock Sunday evening to start our trip south.
The first leg was a long one – about half a mile to the head of Richardson Bay. We soaked in the spectacular view of the San Francisco skyline across the bay and enjoyed swinging at anchor again.
