While anchored in Kaunakakai Harbor on Molokai, we were invited aboard a nearby anchored boat for drinks and snacks.  Barb and Pete sailed Slipaway from LA to Hawaii, and Pete ended up sailing the boat back to the Pacific Northwest singlehanded.

Richard’s ketch, Firewater

Also sharing the anchorage and invited to Slipaway was Richard aboard Firewater.  After growing up in the northwest and Alaska, Richard spent a lot of time exploring the Pacific Ocean.  While chatting, Richard mentioned that his passage to Hawaii was his 26th major trip across the Pacific.

Happy to catch up with Richard again!

Imagine our surprise when we dropped anchor in Cat Harbor and saw Firewater, looking just as clean and shipshape as she did on Molokai.  It was good to reconnect with Richard, and now he’s made 27 trips across the Pacific.

That’s an impressive sailing resume!
