We asked to borrow a drill bit at the marina – this is the one they had in the right size!

We made good use of our last couple of days in San Diego to steadily check items off our list.  There were the recurring chores of washing the boat, filling the water and fuel, and making sure that, as usual, we have enough food on board to make it Japan and back.

We were able to get fishing licenses for Mexico while in San Diego

We also arranged to have a couple of packages sent to us via General Delivery at the local post office.  In the past, this has been as easy as using USPS.com to find a post office that supports general delivery, and then sending the package there.

The missing package has been located! But at the wrong post office…

So, we followed the same process this time.  The only difference is that when we showed up at the local post office to pick up our package, we were told that general delivery doesn’t work there!  “But, the website says that this office can receive general delivery,” we said.  “Sorry, the website is wrong,” we were told.

After a couple of extra days and one very helpful postal worker (and one very unhelpful postal manager), we were able to track down our packages at the third post office we tried.  All’s well that ends well, but our delight with general delivery has now been tempered a bit….
