We use our mobile phones for internet access here in Mexico, and coverage was unexpectedly good in northern Baja. We were able to connect with decent speed nearly everywhere we stopped, and often even up to 10 miles offshore.

Now that we’ve crossed into southern Baja, connectivity is more what we expected – we get phone service near towns, but no internet. That makes it more difficult to update the blog, so we’re just sending this post via our satellite connection to let everyone know that all’s well aboard Madrone.

The recent lack of posts doesn’t reflect any lack of adventure. We’ve had a few stray members of a pack of sea lions run into the side of our boat while at anchor – they must have been really focused on the fishing! We’ve traded with friendly local fisherman for fresh spiny lobster and fish. There have been a couple of nice small wave surf sessions. And the sailing has been really nice – the northwest breeze picks up reliably in the afternoon and allows us to sail comfortably south.

Stay tuned for more posts and pics once we can connect with decent speed, and until then feel free to send us an email at svmadrone at gmail dot com.
