The easy dinghy landing in Chacala where we tie up our dinghy to go into town

We stopped in the town of Chacala back in December on our way south, and we had a fabulous time.  After touring a fair bit of the Pacific Mexico coastline, it remained one of our favorite spots.  The combination of the beautiful anchorage, the sleepy village that somehow has delicious food, and the primo surf spot just around the corner tick all of the boxes for us.

So, we were very happy to have a chance to stop back in on our way north.  Just pulling back into the beautiful crescent bay made us happy, and we dropped our anchor in almost exactly the same spot as in our first visit.

When we were in Chacala for the first time, we lucked out to arrive at the same time as a good swell that really made the local surf spot La Caleta light up.  It seems like we’ve been living right – we were treated to another decent swell during this visit.  Long, shoulder-high lefts in the crystal-clear water are as good as it gets.
