Chacala is one of our favorite spots in Mexico. The combination of a small, laid-back village, beautiful beach, and fantastic nearby surf spot tick all of the boxes for us.
Our third visit to Chacala this season was just as good as the first two. The south swell that gave us half mile long rides was fading, but it was still strong enough to make for fantastic conditions at La Caleta.
Our first two times through town, we enjoyed pescado zarandeado at a recommended beach restaurant. This time, we tried it at a different beach restaurant and it was even better!
On our first visit to Chacala, a friendly local introduced us to a woman who could make us fresh flour tortillas in her kitchen. This time, the woman was out of propane for cooking – but no problem, she just built a fire in the front yard and cooked the impossibly delicious tortillas that way.
We can’t wait to come back in the fall!
