Sailing back to Banderas Bay

Banderas Bay is the sailing center of Mexico’s west coast.  The combination of easy access to shore and good (for Mexico) marine services acts as a gravitational pull for traveling boats.  We can attest to that, because Madrone is back for the third time.

One of Angie’s favorite treats in Mexico is a maracuya paleta (passion fruit popsicle). Luckily, there is at least one paleta store in each town we have visited

This occasion is a happy one – we’re prepping the boat to host visitors.  While we generally work to keep Madrone shipshape and ready for ocean sailing with little notice, we do so with a crew of two in mind.  With visitors, part of the challenge is just making space for more people and their things.

It’s a good challenge, and there’s an unexpected side benefit.  It provides an opportunity to think about where and how gear is stored, and whether that box of miscellaneous stainless fittings (whose purpose no one remembers, and that hasn’t been used in years) really needs to be kept around.

We had a good laugh when we saw our bill from the fish taco stand-Table #- 2 gringos

In addition to clearing space, hosting visitors is also a great excuse for a deep clean – after more than a year of more or less constant moving, it was definitely time.  So, Madrone checked into the friendly confines of the marina in La Cruz and luxuriated under a caress of soap and freshwater on her topsides and wood cleaner for the teak down below.

A nice way to start the day in the La Cruz anchorage
