The wind around the Galapagos is generally from the south. As we approached the islands from Mexico we had to sail upwind for the last five days or so, and the first couple of days of this trip are also nearly directly into the wind.
As we get a bit further south, we should reach the southeast trade winds. That will allow us to ease the sheets for both more comfort and better speed.
Until then, Madrone is happy to romp upwind. The crew, on the other hand, are still getting their sea legs.
