Flying fish frenzy!

This is the latitude of the flying fish. We regularly see schools of what must be a hundred or more leap from a wave, fly over the next couple of crests, and then disappear back into a wave face. There must be something big chasing them under the water.

The most athletic of the fish can get good elevation. We’ve had several bounce off the top of our dodger, which is easily six feet above the waterline.

The flying fish range in size from the length of a finger to the length of a forearm. Each morning we clean a handful off the deck – the unluckiest of them end up with a sailboat underneath them as they descend.
