Nice calm anchorage at Isla Guar

We’ve left Puerto Montt after a longer than expected stay.  We’re delighted to be away from the dock and excited to explore the Chiloe area.

A pair of black-necked swans

The scenery here looks nearly the same as the Pacific Northwest – vivid green tree-covered islands dotting big stretches of open water with snow-capped mountains towering over the vista in the distance.

Exploring the shallow lagoon by dinghy

Isla Guar is our first stop.  Just 15nm or so south of town, it feels like a different century.  Black-necked swans swim nonchalantly by as we explore the lagoon by dinghy before settling in for a peaceful night’s sleep in the perfectly flat-calm anchorage.
