Giant Sequoia National Park marks the southern end of the Sierra Nevada range in California, and it’s home to the largest trees (by volume) on the planet.

Our final National Park of the season in AV- neither Mike nor Angie had visited Sequoia NP before

Like most of the places we’ve visited on our long loop through California, this one exceeded our expectations.  Some of the trees are so large it’s hard to believe they’re actually real.

There are lots of great hiking opportunities in the park

The number of giant sequoias was unbelievable. We were expecting a few groves, but there were so many humongous trees we were really blown away

Safety first!

The bark of the giant sequoia is incredibly fire resistant and there were fire scars visible on many of the older trees
