For more than the past three weeks straight, Madrone has been sailing with the giant, seemingly endless coastline of Brazil to port. Sometimes we’ve been 500 miles offshore, and sometimes less than 50, but always off the coast of Brazil.

Today was a milestone, then, when we passed into the territory of French Guyana!

The deep, vibrant blue color that we’ve only seen in the offshore ocean has been replaced by a duller green, probably because of the outflow of the Amazon being pushed towards us by the current.

French Guyana? The Amazon? Madrone has covered some ground.

All’s well onboard.
