Back in September of 2018, Madrone came out of the water at KKMI in Sausalito. That was almost three years and about 20,000 miles ago. While we do our very best to keep up with maintenance, there are some things that can only be completed with the boat out of the water. So, it’s time to haul out again for some overdue love for Madrone.

Starting the lift, with one of the lifting crew monitoring the position of the slings

Despite the fact that this is our fifth time lifting the boat out of the water, it still makes us a bit nervous to see Madrone lifted from her natural environment. As the straps of the Travelift tension up, we always start wondering about everything that could go wrong – are the straps in the right place? Will we bend the prop shaft? What hidden trouble will we find with the rudder or the driveline?

Ready to come ashore

As usual, our worries are unfounded – Zimmerman Marine has a reputation for quality work, and they flawlessly pluck Madrone from the water, drive her to her new home along one side of the boatyard, and settle her gently onto stands.

Time for some love.
