Good sailing conditions returned for the afternoon and early evening, marred only by a sloppy swell directly on the beam from last night’s blow. After a few hours of motoring when the wind died away overnight, the breeze built again and Madrone was again streaking along (for a slow sailboat) under sail by sunrise.

The end of day five finds Bermuda in sight about 5nm off the port beam. We’ve contacted the marine radio operator to report our approach to the island, and we’re headed for the entrance channel. As always at the end of a passage, the crew is looking forward to a calm anchorage where the boat will stop rolling.
