Located just a few miles outside Oxford, Blenheim Palace is one of the largest private houses in England, and one of the few non-royal residences that carries the title of palace. Built in the early 1700s as a reward to John Churchill, who was named Duke of Marlborough, for his success in the Battle of Blenheim, the palace has been the home of the Spencer-Churchill family since. It’s also the birthplace of one of the famous family members, Winston.
Today, the grounds and much of the house are also open to the public. And each year around Christmas, the palace and grounds are decorated with a huge light show. Highly recommended!
