One fantastic feature of Europe is how easy it is to travel from country to country. Major cities are often just a couple hour train ride apart from one another, and when those cities happen to be in different countries there’s a completely different culture to experience when stepping off the train.

Our adorable hotel

On our way back from the nautical wonderland of Boot Dusseldorf, we took advantage of Dusseldorf’s location and stepped on a train headed for The Netherlands. Two hours later, we were deposited in the heart of Amsterdam.

While Amsterdam is much smaller than London, it more than makes up for it with copious lashings of charm. The concentric canals of the central city are lined with tall and narrow houses, most of which are leaning one way or another from the settling of the soft, nearly sea-level ground.

Night time is just as picturesque

Warm restaurants, cafes, and shops beckon behind plate glass windows on the ground floors while the locals whizz over the cobblestone streets. The city scenery is so picturesque that it seems nearly imaginary.

Lovely Amsterdam

We hope to spend more time in Amsterdam one day.
