Wheeee!
It’s blowing 20-25, with higher gusts, over the aft port quarter. Oso has two reefs in the genoa and one and a half in the main, a relatively small sail plan, and we are still flying through the water. It’s fantastic sailing, and Oso is eating up the miles.
Of course, more wind also brings larger waves. That means spray over the deck and plenty of motion down below. The off-watch crew sleeps wedged between a lee cloth to one side and some pillows to the other, and it’s definitely key to always have a handhold while moving around.
The wind is forecast to back off later today. But for now it’s a fast ride and a new 24 hour record for any of our boats – average speed of 8.75 kts.
All’s well aboard.
