Sitka is a beautiful town on the west coast of Baranof Island. With a population of about 10k, it’s a major provisioning center and we took advantage to refill the boat with food and do some routine maintenance on the engine.
We tied up to the dock behind a commercial fish boat with a dog onboard. When we brought a couple dog biscuits over, they ran below and gave us the largest steelhead fillet we had ever seen. I think we got the better end of that trade!
As always, a favorite part of this shore stops was finding the best food in town. Sitka rewarded us with BBQ at the New Creations food truck and a handmade milkshake at the soda fountain in the local drugstore.
