And we’re off! The weather forecast predicts light winds for the first few days of the passage, so we raised the anchor and hoisted the sails as soon as we saw the wind start to build in the anchorage.

The forecast was correct, with only a 6-10 knot breeze. But the wind direction was perfect for heading southeast, and Madrone showed off her light wind sailing chops as we wove our way through the thick freighter traffic overnight.

The wind died completely after the sun rose, and the glassy conditions were perfect for watching our escort of dolphins surf the bow wake.

All’s well.
