To save some hassle, we arranged to formally check out of Ecuador from Isla Isabela instead of at the official departure location of Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz. Since there’s no immigration office on Isabela, the plan was for the immigration official to take a morning ferry across, check us out, and then take the evening ferry back to Santa Cruz.
If we would have left on time, we would have missed the local market where you can buy Adibas shoes. They also had Reaback’s and Vams….
The plan was perfect, except for the fact that the immigration official didn’t catch the morning ferry, for some reason that is still not clear.
One more day in Isabela for us…
